Water Filtration Units

Water Filtration units for drinking water (RO Systems)

Why do we need filtered water?

Geraldton has very hard water and as we all know, it doesn’t taste very nice! RO water purification systems will reduce and eliminate total dissolved solids like salts and minerals from your drinking water. However, contrary to common beliefs, less than 1% of the organic minerals are actually found in most raw water supplies. With the increase of pollutants, our water supply contains mostly inorganic minerals. Inorganic minerals consist of calcium, iron, magnesium, carbonate and lime compounds, which are not compatible with our bodies. The body’s cells reject these minerals, leaving dissolved inorganic substances throughout the body. This accumulation of debris creates more work and trouble for the body, such as arthritis in joints, gallstones, kidney stones and mineral deposits in artery walls. Organic minerals that are considered soluble, which means the body absorbs the substance into the cells, are found in our live foods such as fruit and vegetables. Purified water provides a necessary rinsing treatment for hydration purposes as our body is over 80% water and equally important to rinse out impurities from our body.
Of all the methods to purify drinking water for domestic use, the process of reverse osmosis is the most advanced, economical and effective as it has the ability, unlike filters, to remove 98%+ of dissolved solids and impurities in water.

How Does Reverse Osmosis work?

The RO process works by forcing water under pressure through a special synthetic membrane. This membrane has the astounding quality of attracting water molecules and repelling dissolved impurities, even those smaller than the water molecules themselves.

Reverse osmosis purifiers remove all the contaminants of concern to the consumer including bacteria, viruses, parasites, heavy metals, inorganic chemicals, pesticides and algae. Domestic units are designed to be used on pre-treated municipal water only. All the impurities are flushed down the drain rather than collecting them as is the case with ordinary filters. Therefore RO systems have no problem with bacteria. They also oxygenate the water so it has a lively fresh taste.
With reverse Osmosis you can rest assured that you are drinking water is the best quality possible and good for your family’s health and well being, besides tasting good too! Call Purely Filtration now on (08) 9964 6644 to find out more.

Water Softeners

Why do we need water softeners?

Hard water contains dissolved minerals such as limestone, iron, sulphur, magnesium and calcium. If these minerals are not removed from your water, they will cause scaling, eventually blocking plumbing and shortening the life of appliances particularly hot water units, dishwashers, washing machines etc.  Hard water will also leave residue in linens, towels and clothes causing a grey appearance and weakens fibres to reduce service life. More detergent and soap are need when cleaning with hard water and on the human side it dries out your skin.

What is really impressive with water softeners is the amount of savings you will see. Soft water is less expensive to heat. Gas and electric water heaters use fewer kilojoules of energy when heating soft water. Linens and laundry can last up to 15%-30% longer. All appliances throughout your house will benefit. Soft water helps eliminate soap scum and reduces hard water deposits so less scrubbing is required, which saves on labour and reduces wear on fixtures, porcelain and tile. Customers, who use soft water for cleaning use less detergent, soap, shampoo and enjoy softer, smoother skin and hair. Restaurants that use conditioned water have fewer spotted glasses, easier to clean facilities and better tasting food and beverages.

How Do Water Softeners Work?

A water softener functions on the ion exchange principal in the removal of hardness minerals and certain contaminants from raw water. The equipment contains a bed of softening material known as resin through which the raw, untreated water flows. As the water passes through the resin the hardness minerals attach themselves to this softening material. This ion process, as chemists call it, occurs literally billions of times during the softening process. Eventually so much hardness collects on the resin that the unit can no longer soften water. Regeneration or recharging is now necessary. To recharge it it must be rinsed with a brine solution. This washes out the hardness and replaces it with sodium and once again the resin is ready to remove the hardness. Purely Filtration can handle all your servicing needs once installed.
